| One of the problems
that we are seeing in the local church today is an "I'm
okay, you're okay" mentality to some degree. People
think because someone dresses nice, speaks well, occasionally
smiles, and can say "Amen" very articulately,
that they are spiritual. Perhaps some of those things might
suggest spirituality, but what really defines spirituality
is what comes out of the person's life.
Jesus said, "Go then and make disciples of all the
nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father, and
of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe
everything that I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19,
20
A disciple as defined by Webster's Dictionary is: a
pupil or follower of any teacher or school. An early follower
of Jesus, especially an Apostle. Jesus said, "Make
Disciples," not converts. A convert is someone who
changes from one religion, doctrine, opinion, etc. to another.
Jesus wants people to be discipled. Largely, the church
has failed in making disciples because she has not shown
the relevancy of the gospel to our lives. Because men of
God do not know the Lord intimately or personally, they
have turned what Jesus meant to bring freedom into religion.
If people really know the Lord Jesus Christ, then they
will have the ability to lead others to Him; not through
doctrine or speaking certain translations of the Bible,
but through sharing Him personally. A person who knows Jesus
intimately, as with another friend, can describe what He
is really like. Since those who know Christ have attributes
of His personality, people are often drawn to them. If Christ
is presented properly, then the Holy Spirit will draw people
to Him. Hence Raffa Discipleship School enters.
Raffa Discipleship School is about training young men and
women to know the Lord Jesus Christ! All students are trained
in the practical application of Biblical truths, thus bringing
the truths alive. The Lord Jesus is presented as someone
who cares and is involved in the lives of people today,
as He was when He physically walked the earth.
Students are challenged to apply the word of God. They
are given relevant assignments that stretch them to know
themselves better as they grow to know the Lord Jesus Christ
more intimately.
